Georgia is considering the possibility of expanding military cooperation in a trilateral format with Azerbaijan and Turkey, Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Alasania said on Tuesday at a news briefing.
"The format of the triangular relationship already exists and we intend to expand it in the direction of implementing new joint military exercises," he said.
The Georgian Defence Minister said three-way command post exercises have already been conducted within this format and now exercises at battalion level are being considered.
"While negotiations are underway, the process for planning the exercises has not started yet. However, the prospects are good in this respect," Alasania said.
The Georgian, Azerbaijani and Turkish military held command and staff training exercises to ensure the security of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.
