Georgia may monitor freight turnover on border with Russian

The Georgian Foreign Ministry is considering monitoring of freight turnover on the Georgian-Russian border, Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze made this statement on Thursday.

"The Foreign Ministry of Georgia is considering monitoring of freight turnover on the Georgian-Russian border, and it will be possible to talk in details on this topic in the near future," she said.

The agreement reached between the two sides, by which Russia could join the WTO, envisages monitoring at customs checkpoints located on the Georgian-Russian border.

In accordance with the agreement, monitors should be installed on checkpoints Larsi, Roki (South Ossetian section of the Georgian-Russian border) and Psou (the Abkhaz section of the Georgian-Russian border).
