Just one local organization seeks to monitor Armenian presidential elections

As of January 8 only one local organization has applied to the Armenian Central Election Committee (CEC) for the execution of a monitoring mission, the head of the Armenian CEC Tigran Mukuchyan said, Mediamax agency reported.

He also noted that the same international organizations that monitored the parliamentary elections last year will observe the presidential elections on February 18.

The observation mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights will soon arrive in Yerevan, observers from the European Parliament, and the CIS countries are also expected, he said.

Presidential elections will be held in Armenia on February 18, 2013. The registration of candidates is held between January 4-14, the election campaign will begin on January 21 and will run until 24:00, February 16.
