Traffic closed on Georgian-Russian border

Traffic has been prohibited from travelling on the Gudauri-Kobi section of Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars highway (Georgian-Russian border, Upper Lars checkpoint) due to heavy snowfall and the danger of an avalanche.

Movement of trailers, semi-trailers and buses, carrying more than 30 passengers, has been restricted on the Gudauri-Kobi section, Georgian Road Department told Trend on Monday.

Movement of other vehicles is allowed on the section from Aragvispiri to Pasanauri and from Stepantsminda to Lars.

On the Pasanauri-Gudauri and Kobi -Stepantsminda sections the movement of other vehicles with special circuits is allowed. Movement is free for vehicles with two or more transmitting bridges.
