Moldovan vessel detained in Georgia

Georgian border guards have detained the YUKKA ship sailing under the Moldovan flag in the Black Sea.

The vessel was detained in the port of Poti for polluting sea water, the border police told Trend on Thursday. The Georgian side has fixed hydraulic oil sinking in the sea.

The case was filed against the captain of the Moldovan vessel, Ukrainian citizen Mykola Petrov in accordance with Article 58 of the Georgian Administrative Code.

Shipowners will have to pay a fine of 60,000 lari ($ 1 = 1.65 lari), plus an amount which will assess the damage caused to the natural environment.
