Batumi to host Int'l Conference on European Integration of Georgia

Batumi will host the Nineth International Conference on the European Integration of Georgia on July 10-12.

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will participate in the meeting, the office of State Minister told Trend on Monday.

The conference will be attended by senior representatives from the countries of the Eastern European region, the heads of EU institutions, including the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, Stefan Fule, the president of the European People's Party Wilfried Martens, Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Vlad Filat, as well as MEPs, representatives of the executive and legislative authorities of Georgia, non-governmental sector and the business community of Georgia and the EU member states.

The Conference is devoted to the prospects of the European integration process in East-European Union neighborhood, including democratic reform and the rule of law, the challenges of global and regiona security, economic co-operation with the European Union and international relations.

The conference will comprise four thematic sessions: democratic reform and the rule of law, challenges to global security, the possibility of economic integration with the European Union and the contacts between people as a catalyst for European integration.
