PM’s powers expanded in Georgia

05 July 2012 [12:19] - TODAY.AZ
The Georgian parliament adopted draft amendments to the Law "On powers and rules of activity of government structure" in the first reading. According to the draft law, the prime minister will be able to issue orders and convey authorities to self-governments.

Under the current law, the prime minister has the right to coordinate the work of regional policy authorities and local self-governments. He also has the right to issue individual legal acts under its own competence. The amendments make it possible to transfer these rights to certain persons.

The parliament will approve the draft law in an emergency mode during the second and third hearings at an extraordinary meeting on Thursday.
