Georgia's trade turnover with Azerbaijan ups

Azerbaijan maintains second place among the major foreign trade partners of Georgia.

Foreign trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $381 842.2 million in January-April 2012, increasing by 12.2 per cent compared to the same period in 2011, Georgian State Statistics Office said.

Goods and services worth 170 473.9 million (an increase of 23 per cent) were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan and imported goods worth $211 368.4 million (an increase of 8.8 per cent).

Turkey ranks first among the foreign trade partners of Georgia - $ 453 million whilst Germany ranks third - $235 million.

In total, the foreign trade turnover of Georgia amounted to $3.124 billion in January-April 2012, increasing by 18 per cent compared to the same period last year. Exports totalled $726 million (an increase of 11 per cent) and imports $2.397 billion (an increase of 20 per cent).

A negative balance amounted to $1.671 billion, accounting for 53 per cent of the total foreign trade turnover.
