'Bow system' in Armenia

Armenian National Assembly's (NA) newly-elect Speaker Samvel Nikoyan's every step is closely followed, and commented on, by his fellow MPs, Hraparak daily writes.

"On December 31, President Serzh Sargsyan organized a New Year reception for the representatives of the ruling elite. When PM Tigran Sargsyan was leaving [the reception], NA Speaker Samvel Nikoyan escorted him until the car. And if this was not enough, Nikoyan [also] bowed down when Sargsyan sat in the car, and, putting his head into the PM's car, he continued speaking with him. The MPs say this perhaps is the only time, in the newly independent Armenia's history, when NA leader subordinates them to this degree before the leader of the government.
 
But this is not a coincidence at all. Not having a public support and being deprived of an intra-party assistance, he considers Tigran Sargsyan to be the sole guarantor of securing the continuity of his existence in politics. In other words, Nikoyan is hopeful that he could be in the next parliament within the framework of the quota to be given to Tigran Sargsyan," News.am reported according to Hraparak.
