31 July 2009 [12:14] - TODAY.AZ
The swine flu case may increase in Azerbaijan in a short period of time, WHO program coordinator on Azerbaijan Elkhan Gasimov said.
Azerbaijani health ministry registered the first two A/H1N1 cases on July 30. The  infected individuals caught the disease in France and the United Kingdom.

High temperature of one of the infected individual was revealed while crossing border. Later an examination revealed A/H1N1. The second infected individual applied to doctor as he/she was ailing.

“As Azerbaijan has more extensive contacts with foreign countries, for example, Georgia, the possibility of increase in A/H1N1 case is not ruled out,” Gasimov said.

The Ministry of Health is working closely with checkpoints at the customs service, which checks all individuals coming to the country. So, one of the swine flu cases were revealed precisely at the check-point, he said.
