Israeli ambassador: Iran’s nuclear program threatens not only Israel and Azerbaijan, but the entire world

A round table entitled “Azerbaijan-Israel relations in the context of contemporary regional geopolitics” was held at the Strategic Research Center under the President of Azerbaijan.
Experts, political scientists, economists and diplomats, including Israeli ambassador to Azerbaijan Arthur Lenk, attended the round table, APA reports. Lenk said Israeli president Shimon Peres’ visit to Azerbaijan would open new phase of the bilateral relations. The diplomat said Jewish community in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani Diaspora in Israel were main factors in the development of bilateral relations. He sad both countries were interested in the stability and security in the region.

The ambassador said Iranian nuclear program threatened not only Israel and Azerbaijan, but entire world and Europe as well. Lenk said it was important for Israel that how would the last presidential elections in Iran impact on its relations with other part of the world and would it change the Tehran foreign policy or not.

The ambassador said his country had clear policy toward the Israel-Palestinian relations. Referring the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s last statement, the ambassador said they supported peaceful co-existence of the states of Israel and Palestine.

Lenk said Israel supported the peaceful solution of the Nagorno Karabakh problem and OSCE Minsk Group efforts. “Israel respects the territorial integrity of the countries”.
