According to him, the situation with Nagorno Karabakh is a little different.
“Neither Russia nor America knows how to resolve this conflict, or choose one of the parties. On the basis of international law, it is clear that Nagorno Karabakh belongs to Azerbaijan, but at the same time, the law is constantly changing, supplemented, there are some emerging nuances. And so a definite decision has not yet been taken for 20 years. Moreover, Armenia has a very strong lobby in the United States, and every American president must take this into account. I think that USA is now living quite comfortably with the current status quo of the conflict, playing in favor of one party and then of another. Russia has a similar situation, it does not want to spoil relations with either Armenia or Azerbaijan”, said the expert.
“Now, the existing status quo, as I understand, satisfies both the United States and Russia. Of course, it should be noted that the U.S. opposed any attempts of Russia to consolidate in the post-Soviet space, here are some differences in the policies of the two powers. Russia, in turn is trying to push America into the background through such conflicts as Nagorno Karabakh,” noted he.
