Chairman of the Supreme Mejlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) of Azerbaijan Vasif Talybov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to Azerbaijan, Gabriel Keller, who arrived on a visit to Nakhchivan.

According to Interfax-Azerbaijan, the Supreme Medjlis chairman said that the autonomous republic, bordering on Iran, Turkey and Armenia, has a population of 400 thousand people, there are institutions of higher education, the department of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and secondary schools in all villages. NAR's 70% population lives in villages and is engaged in grain growing, livestock, vegetable and other areas.
According to V. Talybov, the relations between France and Azerbaijan also embrace the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. He stressed that the Nakhchivan State University has French classes , a separate cabinet for the French language. Teachers from France are participating in the educational process at the university, the French language is also taught at several secondary schools.
G. Keller, in turn, expressed gratitude for the cordial, described the works carried out for cooperation with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and stressed the existing possibilities for cooperation in the field of culture and archaeological research.
The French diplomat will visit a number of cultural institutions, as well as the Ordubad district and see the ancient historical monuments.
