Speaker of National Assembly of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan met with the EU Special Representative for South Caucasus Peter Semneby on May 16 in Armenia.

The meeting was also attended by Chairman of RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration Avet Adonts, head of the European Commission's delegation in Armenia, Ambassador Raul de Lutsenberger Ambassador of Poland to Armenia Tomasz Knothe.
During the meeting the Speaker of the Parliament expressed its satisfaction with the process of implementing the EU East Partnership initiative and the growing interest in the region. He expressed hope that the arrival of leaders of member-states of initiative followed a meeting at the level of Speakers of Parliament and stressed the importance of boosting bilateral ties.
Speaking on the process of settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the RA NA President noted that Armenia attaches importance to the mediation of OSCE Minsk Group.
In turn, Peter Semneby highlighted the importance of starting the EU East Partnership and noted that the program would provide a good basis for the development of regional cooperation. According to the European diplomat, development of inter-parliamentary cooperation and bilateral ties would help the peaceful resolution of conflict and establishing stability in the region.
