NATO official: Azerbaijan is one of the most active participants in military exercises

Deputy Press Secretary of the alliance has highly assessed Azerbaijan’s participation in Nato-led military exercises during his interview with ANS.
Servicemen from 14 countries including Azerbaijan gathered at the Georgian military base of Vaziani as part of the Nato-led military exercise in Georgia. Azerbaijani servicemen joined only first stage of the drills.  

The Deputy Press Secretary for the alliance Robert Pszcel described Azerbaijan as ‘one of the most active participants in the exercise’ during his interview with ANS. He also stressed the perspectives in further development of relations between the alliance and Azerbaijan.  

“There is a bright future in co-operation between Azerbaijan and Nato. A number of issues, particularly the country’s role as a main energy exporter bear a huge importance. I know that there is good will on both sides to enlarge bileteral relations and as President Aliyev said during out meeting that ties should be developed in the future." Mr. Pszcel said.

Azerbaijani servicemen are also hopeful that the country’s participation in the exercises will bring huge benefits in terms of strengthening the country`s security. Zamig Gasimov, one of the Azerbaijani servicemen taking part in the exercises told ANS that the country was represented by 8 servicemen in the drills. “These exercises bear a huge importance for a number of countries as well as Azerbaijan in terms of becoming a member of the alliance. We believe our participation will also contribute to the membership process.”
