“I don’t think that Azerbaijan’s joining the NATO exercises in Georgia creates problems for the neighboring countries”, press officer of the Defense Ministry Colonel-Lieutenant Eldar Sabiroglu told APA.
“Every country, including Azerbaijan, is independent in its foreign policy. Our country has clear foreign policy today. We don’t aim to threaten someone or to keep ourselves aside from the international values”.

Sabiroglu said right balanced policy of the Azerbaijani leadership brought great profits for our country and contributed to the establishing and strengthening of new international relations. “The higher achievements of NATO-Azerbaijan partnership are an indicator of this. Azerbaijan achieved progresses over the past 15 years within the NATO Partnership for Peace Program. Azerbaijani armed forces are continuing their joint activity with NATO forces, as well as with other countries, including neighbors on the basis of bilateral military-technical agreements. Therefore the Defense Ministry sees the establishing and developing of the relations as a necessary work. For example, we can receive tomorrow the invitation to the military exercise in one of the neighbor countries. We can’t expect for the reaction from the West. We don’t want to be like Armenia”.
