Report of the US department of state not reflect US position on the Karabakh conflict: Armenian FM

19 March 2009 [10:11] - TODAY.AZ
"The report of the US department of state on human rights do not reflect the US position on the Karabakh issue", considers Armenian FM Edward Nalbandyan.
"I do not think that formulations of the report of the US department of state reflect their position on the Karabakh issue. Through the past several months the United States have repeatedly voiced their position regarding the resolution of the Karabakh problem", said Nalbandyan Wednesday during a government hour in the National Assembly of Armenia.

He said the US position is based on principles and norms of international law, in particular on three principles: nonapplience of force, right of nation for self-determination and territorial integrity.

"Those who are dealing with the resolution of the issue have repeatedly spoken on this issue. In particular, Matthew Bryza (US co-chair of the OSCE MG) said in Yerevan two weeks ago that the US position is based on these three principles", added he.

At the press conference in Yerevan on March 3, Matthew Bryza said the resolution of the Karabakh conflict must be appropriate for all the conflict parties and base on the basic principles of the final Helsinki act: non-application of force, territorial integrity and rights of nations for self-determination.
