CEC chairman: "Political fight in Azerbaijan is in a civilian form"

Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan Mazahir Panakhov noted that political struggle in Azerbaijan is in a civilian form.
"The fact, proving the civilized form of political fight in Azerbaijan is that despite the country has people who do not agree with the referendum, there is no confrontation within the society", said Mazahir Panakhov Tuesday at a press conference in the Elections information center, according to Novosti-Azerbaijan.

The CEC chairman added that through the whole period of the agitation campaign CEC has not received a single complaint about the violation of rights of voters or members of agitation groups, including oppositional.

The agitation campaign included nine registered agitation groups -Yeni Azerbaijan, Sheher, Tereggi, Right and Democracy, Civil society, For Stable development, Zeka, For Karabakh and Republic and Republicans.

The agitation groups "Movement for Karabakh and Republic" and "Republicans" speak against introduction of amendments to the Azerbaijani Constitution. The initiator of the creation of the civil movement "For Karabakh and Republic" was the Azadlyg bloc, comprising three parties - Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, Liberal Party, Civil Development Party as well as a public forum "For Azerbaijan".

The initiative of the bloc also involved the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan, Umid and Musavat party as well as a number of NGOs.
