For the first time in California we held large scale actions on the Khojaly tragedy, said chairman of the Democratic Reforms Party Asim Mollazade, who returned home from the United States, where he took part in the events on the 17th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.
He said they focused on the need to bring to responsibility the criminals, who committed such crimes against the humanity.
"The events were held in other US cities too. I spoke at the Brookings Institute of Washington.
Moreover, we had meetings with US assistant secretary of state Bruce Connak, OSCE MG co-chair Matthew Bryza, as well as officials of the South Caucasus department of department of state. Two "round tables" on our country were held at the US Department of State. All these events and meetings played a great role in forming an image of Azerbaijan and Karabakh conflict among the US community",
He said so far the US public had no sufficient idea about Azerbaijan and the Karabakh problem.
"Serious work is currently being held in this direction. Armenians' reaction on our visit proves that we have reached our goal. They have published an article entitled "Azerbaijan have reached California".
This proves that we have managed to inform the public of even that state, where Armenians' positions are traditionally strong, about the truth. This work needs to be continued. I highly evaluate the activity of the consulate general of Azerbaijan in California. The officials of this consulate are working under hard conditions and attain serious results despite this", said he.
He considers that the US policy towards our region will not change seriously.
"The United States is interested in expansion of cooperation with Azerbaijan", concluded Mollazade.
