11 February 2009 [16:01] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan needs to study experience of different countries and international organizations in the sphere of combat with corruption, said first vice speaker of Milli Medjlis Ziyafet Askerov during the conference on "Improvement of Effectiveness and Transparency of legislative process", aimed at curbing corruption via fair and effective legislative process and organized by the Parliament of Azerbaijan in cooperation with CE and USAID.

"Our aim is to reach transparency in all spheres and form a legal culture, which should be developed further. The more transparency, the more trust", said he.

According to Askerov, Milli Medjlis is closely cooperating in different spheres with international organizations.

"While adopting documents and in the process of discussion of different draft laws in the parliament we refer to international experience. If our country integrates with the European and Euroatlantic structures, we need to bring the adopted legislative acts in compliance with international standards", said the first vice speaker.

He said Azerbaijan has done much for combat with corruption.

"The due law was adopted in 2004. Azerbaijan joined different international conventions on combat with corruption", said Askerov.
