Democratic Reforms Party thinks it necessary to strike intergovernmental agreement to resume broadcasting of radio stations

29 January 2009 [16:25] - TODAY.AZ
It is necessary to strike a bilateral intergovernmental agreement between Azerbaijan and the United States, as well as Great Britain in order to resume broadcasting of foreign radio stations.
At the regular session of the political board of the Party of Democratic Reforms the participants voiced concern over the restriction of broadcast of foreign radio stations in Azerbaijan. It was noted that this step narrowed the information area. The members of the political board consider that these radio stations, especially BBC are a good school. Azerbaijan should accelerate conclusion of due agreements and resume broadcasting of these radio stations.

At its session the political board also discussed the sociopolitical situation in the country, preparedness for municipal elections, recent processes in the region, including supply of Russian military hardware to Armenia, Nabucco project and other regional projects, as well as the influence of the global economic crisis on Azerbaijan.
