US ambassador to Azerbaijan: "Only Azerbaijani people can assess changes to the Constitution"

The ambassador noted that for voters to be able to assess the proposed amendments democratic debates must be organized for both supporters and opponents of proposed amendments to be able to voice their position.

"Each party must explain its logics of why they speak for or against these proposals", said Derse.

She noted that the fact of application of these amendments is more important for the world community.

Derse also noted that there has been information that people, collecting signatures in favor of the initiative group speaking against amendments, face interference from the side of power representatives which is inadmissible.
