President of Azerbaijan expected to visit Greece

The main discussed issues in the framework of the visit will be prospects of expanding cooperation in energy sphere, especially supplies of Azerbaijani gas to Greece.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev noted at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers by results of 2008 that this year in case an agreement on transit is signed, gas will be supplied to Greece or Bulgaria.

After the recent gas dispute between Russia and Ukraine European countries strive to diversify routes of energy supplies and find more reliable routes.

In the framework of meetings held with officials of Greece, President of Azerbaijan will discuss the current state of bilateral relations in different spheres and  prospects of their development. At the meetings the sides will exchange views about regional and international issues of mutual concern.
