Action of opposition parties near Constitutional Court dispersed in Baku - UPDATED

The opposition parties of Azerbaijan have made an attempt to hold a protest near the building of the Constitutional Court.

Police released all activists, involved into the action of protect in front of the building of the Constitutional Court, said head of the central office of the Musavat party Arif Hajili.

He said after the deputies from the Musavat party Ikram Israfilov and Arzu Samedbeyli interferred, this issue was settled.

"All the detainees were made an oral notification after which they were released", noted he.

As for the intention of the party to continue protests, Hajili noted that this issue is being discussed in the parties.

According to head of the central office of the Musavat party Arif Hajili, the action was organized by Musavat party, Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan and other political structures.

He said as is reported 9 members of the Musavat party and several activists of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan were detained.

"A part of them is held in 39th department of the Sabail district. Among the detained are chairman of the Khatai organization of the party Mustafa Hajibeyli, chairman of the youth organization of the Musavat party Tural Abbasly, as well as Ahad Mamedli, Ayaz Beyturan, Murad Kerimov, deputy chairman of the Surakhany district organization Azer Shakiroghlu and Yashar Turkyazli and others", noted Hajili.

It should be noted that the aim of the action is to prevent conduction of a referendum on introduction of changes to the Constitution, including elimination of limits on election of one and the same person as a president for more than twice.
