Dennis Summut: "Armenia and Azerbaijan have a problem of the "image of enemy"

01 December 2008 [14:34] - TODAY.AZ
"There is a problem of the "image of enemy" in Azerbaijan, but let's be sincere, this problem also exists in Armenia. However, this can be overcome", said Dennis Summit, chairman of the Executive Steering Committee of the Consortium Initiative Dennis Summit.

He said large work must be carried out in this direction and the governments and the publics of the two countries must cooperate in this issue.

"Yet, it is also easy to become pessimistic in the resolution of this problem. I have faced most situations, when representatives of Armenia and Azerbaijan from any categories of the society met. And though they met for the first time, they had much in common and they have much to talk about.

The Moscow declaration speaks of importance of measures to strengthen trust.

Consortium Initiative, which includes the International Alert, Conciliation Resources and LINKS, has been working in this field with different representatives of NGOs, politicians and officials, since 2003.

We consider that we have an area of activity for further work and we want this work to develop under support of the governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan and the international community", noted the chairman of Consortium Initiative.
