United States finances creation of a control check point on the Georgian-Azerbaijani border

"The project took $962,000 and was implemented in the framework of a three year US program of border protection of Georgia and establishment of supremacy of law with a total cost of $150 mln", says the embassy.

The new point is equipped with advanced facilities, delivered to the frontier policy of the Georgian Interior Ministry free of charge.

The US side has modernized two check points on the Azerbaijani and Armenian borders Red Bridge and Sadakhlo respectively since 2006.

The US program will end by late 2008 by launching the fourth new control check point on the Georgian-Russian border in the Kazbeg region of Georgia.
