Armenian speaker: "Participation of Russia and Dmitri Medvedev will play a key role in the resolution of the Karabakh problem"

"Russia will play a key role in the issue of the resolution of the Karabakh conflict", considers chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Ovuk Abramyan.
"The participation of Russia and, in particular, its president Dmitri Medvedev, will play a key role in the settlement of the Karabakh problem", he said Monday at the meeting with speaker of the Federation Council Sergey Mironov.

Abramyan voiced confidence that the recent agreements, attained by the heads of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia on the conflict in Nagorno Karabakh, are "an important step in the peaceful resolution of this problem".

Notably, the cooperation between Russia and Armenia is of positive nature. Abramyan paid attention to the fact that he pays his first visit to Russia after being elected the head of the Armenian parliament.

"I am confident that our meeting will become a new starting point in the development of the Russian-Armenian interparliamentary cooperation", added he.

In turn, Mironov announced that the relations between Russia and Armenia are developing in the direction of strategic friendly partnership.

"The recent visit of Russian President Dmitri Medvedev to Armenia proves the interest in the development of our relations", said he.

During the meeting the sides touched upon such an issue as a growing number of crimes on the interethnic basis in Russia. Mironov stressed the need to hold works to prevent such crimes.
