Cassational appeal of former Economic Development Minister Farhad Aliyev taken for consideration

Sources from the court noted that the appeal was taken for consideration by judge Ali Seyfaliyev. The cassational appeal fixes the need to pass a verdict of not guilty regarding Farhad Aliyev.

It should be noted that former minister Farhad Aliyev had been sentenced to 10 years for property confiscation, without the right to occupy leading positions within five years after serving the term. His brother Rafig Aliyev was sentenced for 9 years with the same provisions of the verdict.

Aliyev was charged under articles 179.3.1, 179.3.2 (misappropriation and embezzlement), 192.1, 192.2 (illegal entrepreneurship), 206.4 (smuggle), 213.4 (tax evasion), 308.2 (abuse of powers), 311.3.1, 311.2, 311.3.3 (bribery) and 313 (forgery in public office) of the Criminal Code.

Brother of former minister and former chairman of the directors board of Azpetrol Rafig Aliyev are charged under articles 179.3.1, 179.3.2, 188, 192.2.1, 192.2.2, 206.3.1, 206.4, 213.4, 259, 313. The Appellate Court of Baku considered the appeal of Farhad Aliyev and other persons unfounded, upholding the decision of the Court of Grave Crimes.
