24 October 2008 [09:11] - TODAY.AZ
"The Karabakh problem has been partially frozen for a long period of time", said Konstantin Zatulin, first deputy of the committee of the State Duma for CIS affairs and contacts with compatriots and director of the Institute of CIS states.
"Medvedev's visit to Armenia and his meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan aimed at getting back to the temporarily postponed problems of Karabakh settlement", noted Zatulin.

He said international problems, issues of the region and Karabakh conflict are the topics, which require trustful and constant discussion between Russia and Armenia.

"I am confident that there is no alternative to the Russian-Armenian strategic partnership in the framework of bilateral agreement either for Russia in the region or for Armenia on the whole", noted he.

The deputy said Russia in the perspective of its external political ties will need to speak about relations not only with Armenia and Azerbaijan but also with Turkey and Iran.

"We are well aware that currently a new page opens in the contacts between Armenia and Turkey today and Russia has in turn positively assessed several proposals of Turkey, related to the Caucasus security platform", explained he.
