Green Party chairman: "Presidential candidates in Azerbaijan do not pay attention to all problems"

27 September 2008 [10:19] - TODAY.AZ
"If I was registered as a presidential candidate, I would have paid attention to quite different problems", said chairman of the Green Party of Azerbaijan, who nominated their candidacy for presidential elections, Mais Gulaliyev.
He noted that the candidates criticize definite spheres of activity, but the most important ideological problems remain ignored.

"The presidential candidates in their election agitation pay attention not to all problems. In particular, my agitation campaign would have been more of enlightenment nature. We are against Azerbaijan's NATO accession. We have our own opinion about the country's oil revenues. The green party considers the construction of a nuclear power station in the country inadmissible. The party also attaches great importance to the globalization and internationalization of the country.

We raise those problems, which concern the representatives of the world green parties most of all. We want Azerbaijan to settle three important problems including food, energy and ecology. All these problems form a basis for the national security.

We thought that the power representatives would be close to our positions theoretically. Yet it is not like that, therefore, we do not support any of the candidate", said he.

He noted that the party plans to hold mass enlightenment actions after the presidential elections.
