Zardusht Alizade: "Before speaking in public with a new idea, the politicians, like Qudrat Hasanquliyev should read a couple of books"

16 September 2008 [12:43] - TODAY.AZ
"Qudrat Hasanquliyev's proposal demonstrates that he does not even know the history of the country, where he is running for presidency", said famous political scientist Zardusht Alizade, commenting on the announcement of Qudrat Hasanquliyev, chairman of the United Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan and presidential candidate, who said Azerbaijan should change its name for North Azerbaijan.

"I would like to inform this politician that before 1918, present-day Azerbaijan was called differently and the name, under which we are presently known to the world, appeared owing to the decision of the parliament of the Azerbaijan People's Republic.

Thus, before speaking in public with a new idea, politicians like Qudrat Hasanquliyev, should read a couple of books to get some knowledge of the subject", said Alizade.

He noted that it is extremely difficult to understand the logic of Hasanquliyev's statement.

"The initiative he has proposed is not only Utopian but it also proves lack of intellect and can not be of any use to a simple citizen of Azerbaijan. This politician voices the next nonsense in period when Azerbaijan has great problems in the sphere of human rights, provision of good living conditions and in the sphere of combat with corruption,

It is frustrating that such persons have a mandate of a deputy in Azerbaijan and are running for presidency", concluded Alizade.
