Azerbaijan’s Consulate General has been opened in Kazakhstan’s Aktau City, APA reports quoting Kazakh media.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kazakhstan Latif Gandilov assessed this event as an important step in the development of relations between the two countries.
"Activity of the Consulate General is an important event, because Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are strategic allies. Aktau will be a diplomatic city after Astana and Almaty", he said.
Rashad Mammadov will be Consul of Consulate General in Aktau.
Consul General addressing an inauguration ceremony noted that activity of Consulate General would make closer two nations, who lived opposite costs of the Caspian Sea. Krimbek Kusherbayev, Governor of Mangistau Province stated that Azerbaijan proved attention it paid to cooperation with Kazakhstan on economy, culture and other fields.
The activity of the Consulate General will cover Mangistau, Atirau, Aktyubinsk and western provinces of Kazakhstan. About 6000 Azerbaijanis live in Mangistau.
