Richard Lugar: "The United States are ready to assist Azerbaijan for its security"

He noted that our country is an important state and that the United States are ready to assist it for its security.

"The fact that Russia interfered with the Georgian-Ossetian conflict resulted in signing of an agreement between Poland and the United States on missile defense system establishment in Poland. No progress has been attained in this issue through the past 18 months", noted the US senator.

Lugar noted that reduction in Russia's share in the investment funds and international stock exchanges was inevitable for this country.

The senator noted that during the meeting with the president the sides discussed bilateral strategic relations and friendly ties as well as the upcoming presidential elections in the country.
