Russia has never set a task of causing damage to the BTC pipeline, states assistant US secretary of state Matthew Bryza.

He noted in his interview to Ekho Moskvy radio station that "if Russia wanted to destroy the pipeline, it would have done it".
"Russian side says that it wants to be a responsible supplier of oil and gas to Europe, but now it is illegally occupying the territory of another country, where the pipeline runs", said Bryza adding that "Russia should take steps to show that it is a reliable partner for Europe, instead".
At the same time, he noted that there are issues of "security of the Poti port and its infrastructure, which was seized by the Russian troops".
