"Through the recent 15 years the political situation in Azerbaijan have depended on two factors-resolution of the Karabakh problem and economic revival", said chairman of the Civil Solidarity Party, MP Sabir Rustamljanly, commenting on the current political situation in the country.
He said that considering the promises of the powers, people and political powers demonstrate patience and in this connection the political parties avoid serious clashes.
"Foreign powers put pressure on Azerbaijani government in the political fight. People also demonstrate tolerance regarding negative actions of powers in a hope that oil revenues will help settle existing problems in the country.
Moreover, the geopolitical situation in the region balances on the verge of stability and instability. Here the interests of Russia and Iran clash with the interests of the West in Azerbaijan. This makes opposition and powers conduct their activity more cautiously.
Colossal oil revenues in conditions of limited financial means of the political parties have changed the political situation in the country. The events in the country are widely affected by the influential groups of the ruling elite and oligarchs. In these conditions opposition losses chances to influence the powers", said Milli Medjlis deputy.
He also announced that Azerbaijani powers have greater chances to influence the results of the upcoming presidential elections.
"But people know me and if I took part in the elections, they would highly assess my chances in presidential elections. But, unfortunately, other factors, not people, play a decisive role in the elections and, therefore, I decided not to take part in this process", concluded Sabir Rustamkhanly.
