14 August 2008 [08:50] - TODAY.AZ
Operation of the Western Union and MoneyGram monetary transfers system will be resumed in Azerbaijan on August 14, said the press service for the National Bank of Azerbaijan.
As is reported, it was decided to stop relations with such systems of monetary transfers as Contact, Western Union, Zolotaya Korona-Denezhniye perevodi, MoneyGram, Migom, PrivateMoney and Lider on June 30 after a monitoring revealed cooperation of these companies with Nagorno Karabakh separatists.

In this connection, vice president of Western Union Jonathan Knaus visited the National Bank of Azerbaijan on August 7. He was presented the claims of the National Bank, informed about inadmissibility of cooperation with the Armenian separatists of Nagorno Karabakh and demanded to stop such actions.

Western Union accepted all provisions of the National Bank and stopped all ties in the occupied lands of Azerbaijan. The company management said it will never admit such facts in the future.

MoneyGram also fulfilled all demands of the National Bank and stopped cooperation with Nagorno Karabakh separatists.

In this connection, the National Bank of Azerbaijan decided to resume the operation of Western Union and MoneyGram in the country from August 14.
