PACE President meets with opposition leaders

Leader of the National Union Movement Lala Shovkat, Chairman of the Musavat Party Isa Gambar, AXCP Chairman Ali Karimli, DIP Chairman Asim Mollazadeh and President of the Public Forum for Azerbaijan Eldar Namazov have attended the meeting, APA reports.

NUM leader Lala Shovkat said they had discussed the issues related to the pre-election situation, freedom of speech, media problems, arrested journalist and the situation of democracy. She said the opposition leaders told PACE President that there was slowdown in the field of democracy after Azerbaijan entered the organization.

Shovkat said they had informed PACE President about the Azadlig block’s decision to boycott the elections. Lala Shovkat said she didn’t believe in some positive progress and implementation of the PACE resolution further.

Musavat leader Isa Gambar said Luis Maria de Puig visited our country for the last resolution on the situation in Azerbaijan.

"He said he would discuss the issues putting forward in the resolution with the Government and would call on it to meet these demands".
