Candidates from opposition and authorities will be alloted the same place for holding mass actions during the election campaign

I do not think that the Venice Commission and Azerbaijani authorities have differences in the issue of freedom of assembly, said Ali Hasanov, chief of the sociopolitical department of Azerbaijan's Presidential Administration.

He noted that the law "On Freedom of Assembly" and amendments introduced to it allow each resident, party and power to use its rights for freedom of assembly.

He said the law does not contain regulations, which can create concerns.

"There are differences only on the place of holding actions. The Azerbaijani authorities value the right for freedom of assembly, as one of the basic human rights and create all conditions for execution of this right", said he.

Hasanov noted that the definition of the place of the street action depends on the infrastructure of the settlement.

At the same time, he said candidates from opposition and authorities will be alloted the same place for holding mass actions during the election campaign.
