"Attempts to equalize the status of Tatarstan within Russia and the status, Azerbaijan offers to Nagorno Karabakh are wrong", said Sergey Markedonov, political scientist and chief of department of international relations of the Institute of political and military analysis during the Moscow-Yerevan-Baku TV bridge.
He said Tatarstan had primordially held talks only about a high status of autonomy within Russia, striving for preservation of a part of powers, while Nagorno Karabakh primordially fought for complete independence, attempting to separate from Azerbaijan.
"Moreover, Tatarstan never had an ethnic-political conflict, similar to Nagorno Karabakh's. Therefore, I consider it incorrect to try to apply a model of autonomy to any case, only based on a general context", announced Markedonov.
