Peter Semneby: "Future relations with the European Union will depend on the level of presidential elections in Azerbaijan"

Presidential elections in Azerbaijan are important both for Azerbaijan itself and the European Union, said EU special representative for South Caucasus Peter Semneby at a press conference by results of the visit to Baku.

He noted that the presidential elections will be the first ones following the signing of the plan of actions between Azerbaijan and the European Union and their level will form a basis for future relations.

"The process of the election campaign will be critical. It is necessary to create equal conditions for access to mass media and equal conditions for all candidates", said he.

Sembeby noted that the elections will be observed by the representatives of the EU member-states.

"Despite it, the observation of elections by local NGOs and mass medias is also significant", said Semneby.
