Azerbaijani journalists go on hunger strike to support imprisoned reporter Eynulla Fatullayev

Reporter of Gundelik Azerbaijan newspaper Shahveled Chobanoglu went on hunger strike yesterday.
The due announcement was made by a source from the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety, Day.Az reports.

According to Chobanoglu, he went on a hunger strike in support of the editor-in-chief of the Gundelik Azerbaijan newspaper Eynulla Fatullayev, who is also on a hunger strike in correctional facility No 13.

"The action is held in the publishing house of the Yeni Musavat newspaper and there is a plan to allocate a site for the journalists, who intend to join it. Along with the hunger strike the journalists will also have to work, the action, therefore, will be held in shifts", Chobanoglu noted.

He stressed that the action will continue until their health afford it.

"The main purpose of the action is to inform the local and world society about Fatullayev's demands and achieve their execution", the reporter said.

It should be noted that imprisoned Eynulla Fatullayev has been on a hunger strike since 26 demanding the release of the three imprisoned reporters and explanation of the mechanisms of releasing political prisoners and prisoners of conscience to the Azerbaijani society by the Council of Europe and the European Union.
