Azerbaijan's Council for Press: "The incident connected with Agil Halil affects the image of Azerbaijan in the international arena"

Azerbaijan's Council for Press has sent an appeal to Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov and Minister of Internal Affairs Ramil Usubov regarding physical pressure to which Azadlyg newspaper reporter Agil Khalil  has been subjected.

The due announcement was made by the press service for the Council.

The appeal says that A.Halil was attacked by the unknowns which resulted in a knife wound to him in the heart area on March 13, 2008 at 08.00 p.m.

"In this connection, the Council for Press expresses its concern on the issue. This incident affects the image of our country in the international community", the appeal states.

The appeal stressed the need to conduct arrangements on the search of persons, who has put pressure on Halil.

"We hope that they will be punished in the duly manner", the appeal says.
