A session of the parliamentary commission on defense and security has been held today.

Day.Az reports that the session discussed draft law "On discussion of an Additional Protocol to the European Convention "On prevention of terrorism".
Ziyafet Askerov, commission chairman and first vice speaker, noted at the session that the convention was adopted in 1977 and the additional protocol envision extradition of people, accused of terrorism, and exclusion of political crimes from the list of terrorism.
Azerbaijan will join the protocol with a special announcement to indicate that Azerbaijan shall not guarantee execution of the provisions of the protocol on the occupied lands by Armenians before the release of lands".
It was noted during the session that the announcement has been supplid by a schematic map of the occupied lands.
It was stated that in line with the protocol, a person, charged with terrorism, can not be sentenced to capital punishment following extradition and a country of extradition may not relieve the punishment.
The protocol has been adopted by 27 CoE member-states.
