Armenian delegation in PACE accusing Azerbaijan of frustrating visits of CoE and PACE experts to Nakhchivan

The Armenian delegation in PACE has appealed to the rapporteur of the commission for culture with a request to voice opinion about Azerbaijan's constant frustrating of visits of CoE and PACE experts to Nakhchivan.

The due information has been provided by the press service for the National Assembly of Armenia. It should be

noted that the experts of the Council of Europe and PACE to Nakhchivan are to visit Nakhchivan to familiarize with the situation with Armenian khachkars on the Armenian cemetery in Djulfa.

According to the source, in an answer to the request, Yan Kubish, chairman of the Committee of CoE Foreign Ministers, Slovakian Foreign Minister said that the issue has been raised by the committee.

The Committee, led by the chairman, called on the powers of Armenia and Azerbaijan to establish a dialogue for the settlement of existent disputes around cultural heritage in Nakhchivan and Nagorno Garabagh.

The Committee of Ministers again confirmed its readiness to assist to both countries in the establishment of peace and mutual trust in the region.

Armenian parliamentarians also touched upon the settlement of the Garabagh conflict. In this connection, the chairman of the committee noted that the talks on the peaceful settlement of the conflict is in the center of attention of AGO group, which observes the fulfillment of commitments undertaken by Armenia and Azerbaijan before the Council of Europe.

Yan Kubish noted that the Committee considers mutual trust to be important as reconciliation and agreement will be impossible without them and compromises achieved under assistance of the OSCE Minsk Group will be useless.
