Mubariz Akhmedoglu: "Year of 2008 will become the last attempt of peaceful settlement of Nagorno-Garabagh conflict"

27 December 2007 [10:44] - TODAY.AZ
"We hope the Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict will find peaceful solution, but at the same time, I consider that year of 2008 will become the last attempt of peaceful settlement of Nagorno-Garabagh problem", Mubariz Akhmedoglu, head of the Center for Political Innovations and Technologies, said.

He commented on the statement of Vardan Oskanyan about the inclusion of the right of Nagorno-Garabagh people for self-determination into the document, discussed by the sides, saying that Vardan Oskanyan failed to complete the sentence, which must be as follows: "The document, discussed during negotiations, fixes the right of Nagorno-Garabagh people for self-determination on basis of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan".

"Such declarations of Vardan Oskanyan can be understood as an attempt to be engraved in the memory of Armenians as a Foreign Minister of Armenia, who attained the peaceful settlement of Nagorno-Garabagh conflict in Armenia's favor", Akhmedoglu said and added that Armenia tries to mislead everyone calling Armenians residing in the occupied lands of Azerbaijan the people of Nagorno-Garabagh.

He said in conclusion that in case no agreement on just and peaceful settlement of Nagorno-Garabagh conflict is achieved next year, Azerbaijan will be obliged to initiate hostilities for releasing its occupied lands.
