Members of Azerbaijani Parliament unhappy with participation of local NGO representatives in the Week of Azerbaijan in Armenia

18 December 2007 [18:20] - TODAY.AZ
A number of deputies have voiced discontent with participation of representatives of local NGOs of Azerbaijan in the Week of Azerbaijan held in Armenia.
Deputy Zahid Oruj announced that the representatives of Azerbaijani NGOs, who are visiting the neighbor country, are famous for their pro-Armenian position in our country.

"I can't understand whose interests they will represent in Armenia and how they will speak about the Azerbaijani culture and history", he said.

He considers that the said people intend to carry out national diplomacy over the head of Azerbaijani nation.

His colleague Azay Guliyev considers that such arrangements serve only to the interests of Armenia. He substantiated his statement by the announcement made by Vladimir Karapetyan, spokesman for Armenian Foreign Ministry, which says that such arrangements prove Armenia's loyalty to the current peaceful talks.

"We can see once again that Armenians are not sincere in this issue and use these events so that to present themselves as peaceful people to the international community, which is not true, in fact", he noted.

According to A.Guliyev, if the event organizers really intend to help the peacefull settlement of the conflict between the two nations, they must declare their position regarding occupation of Azerbaijani lands.
