Hearing on case of Farhad Aliyev fixed to May 30

Judge Tofig Pashayev declared the decision of the preliminary hearing. The court dismissed the petitions on ending the criminal case on Farhad and Rafig Aliyevs, releasing them as the arrest period has been expired and sending the criminal case back to General Prosecutor's Office with regard to irregularities, grounding that the evidences have not yet been investigated, and the criminal case can be sent back to the General Prosecutor's Office only in case of severe irregularities.

The court also rejected the petition of Rafig Aliyev's lawyer Fuad Agayev on ending the accusations concerning civil responsibility. The petitions of Economic Development Ministry's officer Gedir Huseynov's lawyer Ali Mehdiyev on forensic examination, as well as the petition of Maarif Gurbanov's lawyer Samir Isayev on dropping the charges under articles 179 (misappropriation) and 311 (bribery).

The judge said the peititions on commuting the arrest of defendants were rejected as they had business abroad. He thinks that they can leave the country and prevent the trial by offering material support to the vomits.

The public prosecutor's petition on appointing court hearing was granted. The court hearing was fixed to May 30.
The defendants face charges under articles 179.3.1, 179.3.2 (embezzlement), 192.2, 192.2 (illegal entrepreneurship), 213.4 (evasion of taxes), 308.2 (abuse of power), 311.3.1, 311.2, 311.3.3 (bribery), 313 (exceeding power).

Farhad Aliyev faces charges under articles (Art. 179.3.1, 1179.3.2, 192.2.1, 192.22.2, 206.4, 213.4, 308.2, 311.3.1, 311.3.2, 311.3.3, 313) his brother Rafig Aliyev, former president of Azpetrol Group of Companies under (Art. 179.3.1, 179.3.2, 188, 192.2.1, 192.2.2, 206.3.1, 206.4, 213.4, 259 and 313). Ismayil Mensimov, Gedir Huseynov, Sakit Bakhishov, Ferhad Aliyev’s assistant Elshad Abbasov, MIrmejid Ahmadov, Maarif Gurbanov, Chingiz Ibadov, Mirsalam Ahmadov, Mahammadnabi Rustemov, Rafig Aliyev, Alikhan Pashayev were arrested.

Agaali Ahmadov, Rafig Abbasov, Agabey Huseynov, Elchin Nadirov, Sergey Borshevski, Yusif Hamidov, Adalat Dadashov are at bail. 1287 victims, about 700 witnesses and 164 civilians are related to the case. 347-volume criminal case consists of 93,724 pages. APA
