25 issues on the agenda of CIS meeting of heads of government

The next meeting of the CIS heads of government will be held in Yalta on May 25. Some 25 issues will be put on the agenda of the meeting.

At the same time seven draft documents were considered and approved at the regular meeting of the CIS foreign ministers in Astana on April 25 this year.

One more issue – a draft resolution of the CIS council of heads of government "On drawing up interstate programs aimed at taking joint measures to counteract crime and illegal turnover of drugs, psychotropic substances and precources for 2008-2010" was put on the agenda by CIS Executive Committee.

The main theme of the forthcoming meeting will be cooperation between the CIS member states in the economic field, in the spheres of social policy, humanitarian and military cooperation and financial support to the CIS bodies.

In particular, the heads of government are expected to consider a draft agreement on forming the single electrical and energy market of the Commonwealth, a draft agreement on cooperation in the fight against circulation of adulterated medical preparations, a draft resolution on the set of measures taken by the CIS participating countries to prevent spread of bird flu on their territory. Moreover, the heads of government will discuss issues relating to the peacekeeping activity of the CIS collective forces, the work of the interstate humanitarian cooperation fund and several other important problems. Moldova proposed to hold the 7th international sport games of CIS states in 2008.

Tajikistan's Prime Minister Akil Akilov is chairing the Council of heads of government. Ukraine is expected to take over the chairmanship on May 25. APA
