Iran's embassy in Baku on Wednesday issued a statement dismissing media reports on closure of borders between the Islamic Republic and Azerbaijan.

The embassy also announced that customs offices in border areas of the two countries are doing their ordinary activities, and there is no obstacle to the traffic of passengers and vehicles.

Some Baku-based media including the Russian language newspaper 'Zarkalu' and the non-governmental news agency of 'Turan' claimed that Iran's customs offices were closed as of Tuesday.

Turan news agency also claimed that Iran had deployed troops and military equipment on the border with Azerbaijan. IRNA
