03 April 2007 [21:17] - TODAY.AZ
Azeri President Ilham Aliyev on Tuesday declared his support to Iran's civilian nuclear program.

In a meeting with new Iranian ambassador to Baku, Nasser Hamidi Zare, Aliyev said that all countries including Iran are entitled to enjoy peaceful nuclear energy.

"Azerbaijan will never allow foreign troops to make use of its land to attack other countries," he added.

The president dismissed the media reports on possibility of giving Azerbaijan airports to foreign forces to attack the Islamic Republic of Iran.

"I'm waiting for a meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and Azeri foreign minister will pay a visit to Tehran to make preparations for," he said.

Iran's new ambassador to Azerbaijan, for his part, conveyed Ahmadinejad's message to Aliyev, saying that he will try to deepen friendly relations between the two country during his term in office. IRNA
